Bounce/Flappy
Using the concept of “Events,” students will create 2 games of their own with events like “When the mouse is clicked, make the bird flap” or “When the ball goes through the goal, you score a point.”
Resume-
In this unit, the Guidance Department will provide an overview of career options. Students will utilize this knowledge and researching skills and create a resume.

During the first few weeks of school while kids were getting to know each other we created a class book where each child wrote one page about themselves. We added a digital picture, a page border and clipart.

ELA Poetry Project
Puzzle App/ Intro to Pair Programming
Students gain familiarity with a computer by solving jigsaw puzzles, which accustom them to the Code.org system and also to the idea of dragging and dropping. Students learn how to collaborate with other on assignments at the computer.
Optional Activities
Emotions Powerpoint
Students take pictures of themselves in groups expressing five emotions (happy, sad, mad, afraid, confused) They upload to iPhoto and get their first lesson in editing photos. They crop, remove red eye, and add effects. They insert into Powerpoint slides. Next they use the computers thesaurus to find synonyms for the words. Last, they write a sentence about a time that they felt that feeling in their own lives. We add clipart to the cover and print two slides per page to create a book to take home.

Other Optional Activities
Animal Cube Template - students did research in classroom. Each child was assigned an animal book to read and a graphic organizer to record information for each side of the cube.
