Bounce/Flappy
Using the concept of “Events,” students will create 2 games of their own with events like “When the mouse is clicked, make the bird flap” or “When the ball goes through the goal, you score a point.”
Resume-
In this unit, the Guidance Department will provide an overview of career options. Students will utilize this knowledge and researching skills and create a resume.
Kids took digital pictures of themselves and imported them into Kidpix. They made a base of a snowman in a separate file. They used lasso tool to crop out their face and copy to insert on their snowman's base. Then they created speech bubbles for what snowman would be saying and decorated picture. We hung them on a winter display outside of our room. All the kids loved seeing themselves as a snowman. I hated to take them down in spring!
Hungry Caterpillar Project
We first watched The Very Hungry Caterpillar read by Eric Carle from his website. Then we looked at powerpoint file that is attached which I created to show how powerpoint could be used to retell a story. Next students used a graphic organizer to gather thoughts for a story variation based on caterpillar story. Then we began writing our own stories in powerpoint titled, "The Very Hungry..."
Computer Term Bingo Card
Students use Word to create a table to make a bingo game card. They use a list of computer terms as the words. They randomly place one word in each box. Students learn how to merge cells, fill colors, center text, and more. When boards are completed we play bingo electronically with the cards. When a word is called out, students shade that box with fill tools. Kids love this and it reinforces tech vocab or anything other topic you choose.
Students use the drawing tool bar to create a self-portrait. The students use many different shapes, use fill color, shading, different orientations and layering. The learn how to format Word Art, and create speech bubbles to have "themselves" share some information about themselves. The students really enjoy this project and we display their final projects in the hallway so everyone can meet them.
What I Did This Summer-in Kidspiration
This a great project for the beginning of the year. Students create a graphic organizer (web) about their summer using pictures and sentences. The students can then create a more detailed writing assignment using their web from Kidspiration.
