This project was made using Kidpix. Each first grader designed a "snowperson" and wrote using Kidwriting. We recorded their voices reading the sentences so others would know what their kidwriting said. It was posted on our school website to share with our families.
This project was an introductory lesson to powerpoint. Children learned how to change font colors, add text, add clipart and view a slideshow. We printed out slides on four per page and stapled together to make a small booklet to take home. The template I created is attached for future use.
Acrostic Poem in Word
-Together as a class we brainstorm various words that remind us of a topic, for example Spring. Once we develop our brainstorming list of key words the students use a ready made template with the word Spring down the side of the page and allow the students to choose their favorite word to complete their acrostic poem. Once they type in the word they chose next to the appropriate letter of the poem. The students will then format the word size, color and format to their choice. (The students have completed previous lessons practicing formatting skills). Finally, the students will insert and format Spring clip art to their poem. This can be adapted for many different topics. spring template.doc
Memorial Day- Kidspiration file gave them four clipart pictures on a page and after discussion about history of holiday had them write four facts about it. Reinforced capitalization and punctuation of each. students listened to sentences with the ear to proofread if they made mistakes. They changed fonts and added names. They also printed their papers themselves.
Thanksgiving Kidspiration- Have students find pics that represent things, people, and food they are thankful for this year. Write under each picture the name of each item.
